new theme, new feel

So, I'm trying out a new theme for a new feel to my blog ... so I apologize for any random email updates, new post updates, etc. Time to brush back up on my HTML code! There will be some serious quirks around here for a little while.
In the meantime, I was browsing through the ridiculous amount of saved images I have from the blogosphere, and check these puppies out ...

I really like this color palette for a spring feeling. With our random 45 degree days around here {soaring temps, right?} I've been starting to get spring fever big time! I will be moving soon, and instead of looking at how much of a pain in the arse it's going to be, which it will be, I'm trying to looking past the boxes, packing, search and rescue of lost items to the near future where I'll be redecorating my new home. {I'm totally going to eventually enlisting Mom and Sister for that if they'll partake}. But, these stripes, the metallics, leather, cools mixed with warms and the whole clean but rich feel makes me pretty happy.

So, the blog has a new theme and a new address {mcgowandesign.blogspot.com}.
Similarly {and hopefully} I'll have a new theme and a new address soon too!

{ color palette: urban chic }

I love the pairing of subtle and plain textures with punches of
pattern and bright color. Something about it feels so urban and loft-like.
This Swedish home and daylook mixed with a time lapse of a night time
 highway in Atlanta makes me want navy, coral, and beige in my
wardrobe and apartment. It seems so chic yet relaxed, doesn't it?

color palette: rich & serene

I am loving this soothing and rich color palette. GAP's Spring RTW 2011 campaign offers clean and cool lines that remind me of the quiet and muted tones of this amazing home office that I am in complete love with. Pair them with this quiet photo taken in British Columbia, and it makes a happy little trio of calm, quiet, and rich colors and textures.

Anyone up for helping me redecorate my apartment?

{ moving day #17 }

Today, my friends, is moving day #17 for me
(and my parentals who kindly haul my junk everywhere).
Yes, it's true. In the past fours years, between multiple dorm rooms
and summer jobs, I've managed to move 16 times within my college career.

Now on to #17!
(Hopefully I can stay put for a while here).

No, this isn't where I'm moving to.
But hey, a girl can dream right?
Someday ...

[ design crush ]

I was browsing A Life More Fabulous this morning
(as always) and was shocked to see Sarah Lavoine's
fabulous color choices for her apartment ... why?
Because this is exactly the look I was trying to explain
to my madre y padre after picking up a color swatch
with these colors on it! I love greys!

Even though it's cool toned, I think this setup still looks
so cozy and sharp! Mixing great textures with high
contrast elements is so wonderful!

Loving these calm and quiet looking interiors
on my hectic Monday morning.
~
Don't these pictures make you want a cup of
coffee, a good book, and a comfy chair?

office-delight? yes please.

I'm only dreaming of having such a lovely office someday...

I think this rings true for most of us.

ode to grey

It's the day before my show has to be up! Yikes!
Tonight I have to finish printing, matting, framing, and hanging
all of my work... no biggie, right? I'll be sure to take pictures
to post the final product. With all this black and white
photography I figured I'd share some of my love for the color grey....

I do love the color grey... soothing and classy.

Now, back to my thesis-saga.

{thursday favorites}

I love this poster from Dear Colleen... very sharp.

Emily Gilbert has some great interior shots.
I love this chair and the built-in book case behind it!

Here is one of the several versions of the logo I designed
for St. Joseph's College of Maine EMS. I tried to incorporate
the typical star of life with the school's crest... what do you think?

Happy Thursday!

{wanna go for a ride?}

It's a beautiful day here, and I feel like this dog!
I wanna-go-fer-a-ride! (said in high pitched voice)

I think these cards from SeeSaw Letterpress are neat.

Nesting Newbies is a great online magazine that I stumbled
upon the other day. This look is called "Urban Femme." Minus
the heavy drapes, I love this look! Especially the zebra rug.
